Hidden-Tech members of all professions seeking projects, or even
a
full-tome job, should come out on Monday, Nov. 8 to learn more about
work
opportunities available at STCC.
STCC is one of the most advanced institutions in the region when
it comes to technology training and promoting entrepreneurship.
For
example, The Scibelli Enterprise Center houses incubators for companies
of
all types and sizes -- from student-run operations to startups and
full-fledged businesses. Those who attend will meet administrators
and
representatives from three key STCC programs or centers:
Possible Business/Work Opportunities:
* Center for Business and Technology
Mission Statement: To expand our role as a leading provider of
training
programs and consulting services that meet the changing technology
and
workplace demands of individuals, business and industry.
The Center for Business and Technology (CBT) is always in the process
of
creating market-driven non-credit courses and identifying quality
instructors/experts to teach in these non-credit course areas through
a
combination of in-class instruction, web-based instruction and contract/
customized training.
* Entrepreneurial Institute
Mission Statement: The Springfield Technical Community College
Entrepreneurial Institute serves as an integral part of the College
by
reaching into the community to increase the stream of new entrepreneurs
who
can grow and develop new companies.
The Institute provides "one stop" entrepreneurship education
for
entrepreneurs who seek start-up or growth knowledge and information.
The Entrepreneurial Institute seeks to identify area entrepreneurs
who are
interested in serving as mentors, coaches and cheerleaders for high
school
and college student created businesses which operate in the Small
Business
Incubator.
* Springfield Business Incubator
(see http://sec.stcc.edu for company/business
incubator names)
Mission Statement: The Springfield Business Incubator provides
comprehensive support services, resources and a stable environment
to early
stage businesses, enhancing their growth and increasing economic
development in the Pioneer Valley.
The technical assistance and consulting opportunities increase
as the
tenant businesses participating in the incubation process evolve
and
grow. The intellectual capital within the Hidden-Tech membership
may prove
to be a leading source for this knowledge, assistance and consultation.
Thomas A. Goodrow, Vice President, Economic and Business Development
at
STCC offers this welcome to HT members:
"Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) welcomes the
opportunity to collaborate with the Hidden-Tech mmbership to support
the growth of economic development in the region. By creating a
deep understanding of the talents and expertise of the Hidden-Tech
members and combining the educational products and services of STCC,
a concentrated and comprehensive effort will evolve in supporting
entrepreneurship education and new venture creation and expansion,
as well as the training of a skilled and knowledgeable workforce
in our local and collective communities."
"STCC views Hidden-Tech as an integral component to the work
of our region
because of its diverse membership which is committed to being an
agent of
change in the local, regional, national and global economy. The
