It's that time of year again when we all face the tax man. But in 2004,
you don't have to face the IRS alone.
Hidden TEC is scheduling a night on Monday, Jan. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. at
the Jones Library, Amherst. Members will be able to network and swap
information on ways you can utilize the IRS to build your company.
That's right. The government actually provides some tax advantages
for small companies -- along with that dreaded self-employment tax.
We've collected tips from some local experts like Gerry Hersh, a
Northampton accountant, that will help you wisely spend your money
in such a way as to build and diversify your business. We're hoping
that Gerry will make an appearance along with an IRS employee that
we've contacted. But with the 20 tips Gerry has provided there will
be ample information for a group discussion on how best to approach
working with the IRS. After the event, we'll post some of your questions
and answers to the list.
Come and bring your thoughts and advice, along with some snacks to share.
Directions: The
Jones Library is on Amity Street in Amherst just up from the
intersection of Main and No. Pleasant Streets. The room is in the
basement. There will be signs, but after 5 p.m. you have to walk
around the back of the building and enter from the basement rear
door.
