The Springfield Enterprise Center, an incubator to guide, educate, and support startup businesses, opened on October 5, 1999 in a completely renovated historic building in the STCC Technology Park. The Enterprise Center is a 39,000 square foot facility which offers tenant suites with customized leases at affordable rates, including shared services, space prepared for phone and Internet service, and pro bono consulting services.

Statistically, businesses incubated during their critical startup years with assistance and guidance succeed at twice the rate of those that do not receive such support. Incubators that draw on the resources of a higher education site manager are among the nation's most successful. In addition to the Enterprise Center's close ties to STCC's academic offerings in entrepreneurship, the tenants are guided throughout their incubation period by the SEC Advisory Board, a group of successful area business professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to assist these young companies.
The STCC Entrepreneurial Institute, under the auspices of the college's School of Business and Information Technologies, is located at the Springfield Enterprise Center. The Institute focuses exclusively on academic and credit offerings in all aspects of entrepreneurship education, ranging from a two-year associate degree to the K-8 elementary entrepreneur programs. The Institute also offers educational programs to area K-12 educators interested in teaching entrepreneurship. The Institute runs the YES! (Young Entrepreneurial Scholars) program for high schools in the region and the college's Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts Student Business Incubator. Serving as a "one-stop" center for entrepreneurship education for individuals who seek start-up or growth knowledge and information, the Entrepreneurial Institute serves as a coalescing force in the development and delivery of entrepreneurial education across the spectrum of present and future entrepreneurs.
